<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It’s called plaque, and if you let it stick around for too long, it can damage your teeth and gums. What can you do to stop plaque in its tracks? The 5-Step <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/09/the-5-step-tooth-plaque-prevention-plan.html" target="_blank">Tooth-Plaque Prevention</a> Plan :</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 1: Brush Every Day</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Once a day is good, but the American Dental Association (ADA) says to brush twice a day. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a fluoride toothpaste.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Brushing twice daily prevents plaque from forming in the first place and disrupts any plaque that has already started to form and mature,” says JoAnn R. Gurenlian, PhD. She's a professor in the department of dental hygiene at Idaho State University.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Make sure you get to all the areas of your mouth with your toothbrush, including teeth, gums, tongue, and the insides of your cheeks. In general, the process should take about 2 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 2: Clean Between Your Teeth</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There may not be much of a fun factor to flossing, but cleaning between your teeth every day can have a crucial impact on your oral health.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have a tough time reaching certain parts of your mouth to floss, ask your dentist about interdental brushes, floss aides, or water- or air-flossing devices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 3: Use a Mouth Rinse</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Know your terms: mouth rinse and mouthwash are two different things. “Mouthwash is used to freshen breath,” Gurenlian says. “An antiseptic mouth rinse, however, actually helps reduce the bacterial load found in plaque.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Using mouth rinse prevents plaque buildup more than just brushing and flossing alone. Gurenlian suggests a 30-second swish twice each day as part of your tooth-cleaning routine.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 4: Avoid Sticky, Sugary Food</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The hardest foods to remove from your teeth are the ones that cling when you chew. Think raisins, granola bars, or sticky candy. Sugary and starchy foods are some of the most harmful to teeth, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“If sugar is not removed from your teeth shortly after you eat it, plaque uses it to help create tooth decay,” Gurenlian says. The faster you can get food off your teeth, the less likely you are to get cavities.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Step 5: Go to the Dentist</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It’s key to have someone who knows teeth keep tabs on yours. See your dentist and dental hygienist on a regular basis, so they can look for signs of disease.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
How often you have to go will depend in part on how well you care for your teeth. Most people have to visit only twice a year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are times when a loose tooth is perfectly normal. Losing teeth is a rite of passage: baby teeth fall out, and adult teeth begin to peek through the gums.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Be sure to check the area where the tooth has been removed to make sure no tooth fragments are left behind. Especially if a tooth is knocked out, fragments are very possible, and the victim should visit a dentist as soon as possible.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The tooth fairy's surprise aside, losing a baby tooth rarely causes any complications. But sometimes a loose tooth refuses to come out on its own. In that case, you can carefully pull it yourself. If a child's tooth moves back and forth easily without pain, follow these steps to pull it:</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.</li>
<li>Ask your child to open wide. Try to keep him or her calm. The anticipated tooth fairy's visit is always a good fear reliever!</li>
<li>Using a clean gauze pad, gently pull the tooth out with your fingers.</li>
<li>The gum above the removed tooth might bleed. If so, have the child lean slightly forward to avoid swallowing any blood (and becoming nauseated).</li>
<li>Using a new gauze pad, apply pressure to the gum area until bleeding stops.</li>
<li>Bleeding should stop within a few minutes. If, after fifteen minutes, the bleeding continues, seek professional medical help.</li>
<li>(Optional) Put the tooth under the child's pillow before he or she goes to sleep so the tooth fairy will visit!</li>
</ol>

<b>Bad breath</b> (officially known as halitosis, if it’s chronic) is a problem that caused by anything from an over-load of bacteria in your mouth, underlying <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">dental problems</a></b>, or just a stinky snack with foods like garlic or onions. But that <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/08/bad-breath-homemade-cinnamon-honey-mouthwash.html" target="_blank">mouthwash</a> that you buy at the store…why is it electric green or bright purple anyways? If you take a moment to read the label, you’ll find you’re not getting much more than a mouthful of chemicals, artificial coloring, and flavoring that does little to help your breath for more than a half hour or so. It may actually do more damage long-term-one of the most popular ingredients in mouthwash is ethyl alcohol, which can weaken the lining of your gums. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although inconclusive, Stanford University has conducted research that may link certain <b>mouthwash</b> to oral cancer. So the next time you need to <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/08/bad-breath-homemade-cinnamon-honey-mouthwash.html" target="_blank">freshen your breath</a></b>, try making this DIY mouth rinse. It’s inexpensive, refreshing, and effective-not to mention that you know what’s in it, and can take comfort in the fact that its not the color of toxic sludge.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ingredients: <b>Cinnamon powder, honey, lemon juice, baking soda</b> (optional).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Unlike mint, which tends to just mask <b>the smell of bad breath</b>, cinnamon actually gets rid of the odor by killing off odor-causing bacteria. The International Association for Dental Research found that people who chewed cinnamon gum had a 50% decrease in oral bacteria versus people who chewed mint.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Honey makes everything taste better, but it also has antibacterial properties. If possible, get Manuka honey. Manuka honey is from New Zealand, and contains 127 times the amount of methylglyoxa, which is the antimicrobial agent that kills off bacteria, than acacia honey (the regular sweet stuff you usually see.) Always try to get organic raw honey.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Lemon has a strong refreshing citrus scent that can help with nasty cases of bad breath.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Baking soda wipes out nasty things (like bad bacteria) and has been shown to help whiten teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Material:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-2 lemons</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1/2 teaspoon-1 teaspoon baking soda</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1 ½ teaspoons of honey</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1 cup of warm water</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-A bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFp5fdmvuzHVahKJQkqbavoz6ETR_L-09ZwVO9QhFZvMuUR8AEu5mIC0Ta9fudt6f27GG2Y-VpWeL5UmS_GkeSNyLVImAxW0HJ8Qpvv6k-qLPwR91bS9tYM0Eo7oUrL7WOm14LC8a4fA/s1600/cinnamon-mouthwash-to-get-rid-of-bad-breath-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFp5fdmvuzHVahKJQkqbavoz6ETR_L-09ZwVO9QhFZvMuUR8AEu5mIC0Ta9fudt6f27GG2Y-VpWeL5UmS_GkeSNyLVImAxW0HJ8Qpvv6k-qLPwR91bS9tYM0Eo7oUrL7WOm14LC8a4fA/s1600/cinnamon-mouthwash-to-get-rid-of-bad-breath-2.jpg" height="235" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Instructions</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Put ½ tablespoon of cinnamon into a bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid, and add the juice of 2 freshly squeezed lemons along with 1 ½ teaspoons of honey. If you’d like you can also add in 1/2-1 teaspoon of baking soda and omit the honey, or use both. Pour 1 cup of very warm water (needed to melt the honey) into the jar, and stir well. When you need to freshen up your breath, give it a quick shake and swish/gargle 1-2 tablespoons for 1 minute.</div>

<span style="font-size: small;">3 Natural Sleep Aid Drinks- for a deeper, more <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/08/natural-drinks-to-help-get-better-sleep.html" target="_blank">restful sleep</a>.</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In anticipation of our upcoming list of <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/08/natural-drinks-to-help-get-better-sleep.html" target="_blank">natural better sleep remedies</a></b>, i'm sharing 3 natural drinks that you can whip up before bedtime that will help you relax, unwind, and drift off to dreamland.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0WSKAqxNujfIvUDRvGvEA8uEcMHuHhzxMmxIlSPy9sRJjr6K7xaa240JOQqQpemJYCQXqCRAOoNjrjfWSp1tRy0f2ZDpPElaYiD34zhgcUdhNGAX_RwYlkSF91ioiHge4dvO9eBvxtQ/s1600/natural-drinks-to-help-get-better-sleep-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Natural Drinks to help get Better Sleep !" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0WSKAqxNujfIvUDRvGvEA8uEcMHuHhzxMmxIlSPy9sRJjr6K7xaa240JOQqQpemJYCQXqCRAOoNjrjfWSp1tRy0f2ZDpPElaYiD34zhgcUdhNGAX_RwYlkSF91ioiHge4dvO9eBvxtQ/s1600/natural-drinks-to-help-get-better-sleep-1.jpg" height="400" title="Natural Drinks to help get Better Sleep !" width="400" /></a></div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">1. Cherry juice (and vanilla) drink help to get better sleep</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have made cherry juice a regular part of my morning and nighttime routines since the first time I tasted it. To make it even better, it is one the easiest sleep tonics you can concoct!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tart cherries are incredibly rich in melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating our sleep-wake cycles, so indulging in a glass of the tart but sweet ruby red liquid every morning and night will help you keep your sleep schedule on track.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Vanilla has a soothing scent, and adding a drop of extract to your cherry juice can provide aromatherapy benefits that will help you doze off.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Material:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-5-8 ounces of tart cherry juice</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-A drop or 2 of vanilla extract</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Instructions:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the morning pour yourself about 5-8 ounces of tart cherry juice and drink it in its entirety. At night 1 hour to half an hour before bed repeat, adding a drop or 2 of vanilla if you desire. I would suggest sticking to using the vanilla only at night, since you don’t want to get too relaxed first thing in the morning!</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">2. Fresh Chamomile-lavender tea to get better sleep</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This tea combines two of the most relaxing herbs known to promote rest and a sense of calm-lavender and chamomile.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why chamomile: It’s not exactly pinpointed just what in chamomile gives it its sedative effects, but some research has tentatively shown that a constituent in chamomile called apigenin can bind to GABA receptors in the brain, creating a mild response similar to anti-anxiety medication, such as Xanax, does. GABA is the second most common amino acid in the body and plays a huge role in our central nervous system, calming us down and, of course, helping us relax into sleep.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why lavender: Lavender is a scent that has been used to relax and unwind for centuries. Recently a study showed that people exposed to its odor had a change in brainwaves patterns, suggesting that it did indeed induce drowsiness.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Material:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1 teaspoon of lavender buds</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1 teaspoon of chamomile buds</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-8 ounces of hot water</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-milk/honey to taste (optional)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Instructions:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bring 8 ounces of water to a boil. In a teaball or loose-leaf tea strainer, place 1 teaspoon each of lavender and chamomile buds. Put the straining device in your cup and pour the boiling water over it. Allow the herbs to steep for 10-15 minutes-the longer it steeps the stronger the flavor will be. Add milk and/or honey to taste. If you don’t have a teaball or something similar, simply pour the hot water directly over the herbs in a bowl and then use a kitchen strainer to remove the buds.</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">3. Warm milky drink to get better sleep</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This tasty combination of warm milk, honey, and a sprinkling of nutmeg is your ticket into Snoozefest.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The idea that warm milk helps you fall asleep didn’t come from nowhere, as people over the centuries could tell you it really does work, but not for the modern day reason that states it makes you sleepy because of tryptophan. Conclusive studies have been done that show milk does not raise tryptophan levels, but it can raise your internal body temperature when it’s heated, which will relax you and make you sleepy and calm. Add to this the most powerful effect of all, the placebo effect.</div>

<span style="font-size: small;">Clove Toothache Compress for Pain Relief [Home Remedies]</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-tooth-pain-natural-remedies.html" target="_blank">A toothache</a> is a dreadful thing that sends a lot of people running straight to the dentist. Unfortunately they have a nasty habit of striking in the night, thanks to changes in blood flow, and when the dentist’s office is closed. Or, you simply can’t make it to a dentist. Either way, cloves make an incredible (and inexpensive) home remedy for toothaches. Long before we had the dental care we have today, dentists used cloves to help pain because they contain eugenol, a powerful anesthetic and antiseptic that stops pain in its tracks and wipes out germs. Eugenol remains popular and effective even now, and is still used by dentists today in a purified form that separates it from the essential oil.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/08/clove-toothache-compress-for-pain.html" target="_blank">Clove Compress Remedy for a Toothache</a> </b>- use this simple & effective natural remedy to get rid of your toothache pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are 3 forms in which you can use cloves to numb your aching nerve: Ground or powdered, whole cloves, or clove oil. A clove oil compress seems to work the best, especially if you’re too sore to put whole ones in your mouth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Ground:</b> This is something that a lot of people have in their kitchen. First, rinse your mouth with warm salt water and wash your hands. Take a pinch of the ground cloves and apply it between the gum that is sore and your cheek. Your spit does the trick now, just wait while it mixes with the powder. The pain should subside rather quickly.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Whole: </b>Rinse your mouth with warm salt water. Take 2 or 3 cloves and hold them in your mouth as close to the sore area as possible, and wait a few minutes until they start to soften. When they do get softer chew them lightly to release more of the oils, if you’re not too sore.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Clove Oil Toothache Compress</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Probably the most effective way to use to clove to help your toothache is to make a compress.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Materials:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Clove essential oil</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Cotton balls</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-1/2 teaspoon of olive oil</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
-Cotton swabs (optional)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrYQWH0PH3QLp-LNydYVUkVtd8yHFFwNjDcdRJDuRqfuYxrzOUGbZNY-X8Bk-0RPQ9tewuWnkbQwUI1hyphenhyphenqteJsotDVrJMajgRWaUlHxt5NzzdrGh-Ty70k-Ra6ymEFXFops5CxP9t8Zw/s1600/clove-toothache-compress-for-pain-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Clove Toothache Compress for Pain Relief [Home Remedies]2" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrYQWH0PH3QLp-LNydYVUkVtd8yHFFwNjDcdRJDuRqfuYxrzOUGbZNY-X8Bk-0RPQ9tewuWnkbQwUI1hyphenhyphenqteJsotDVrJMajgRWaUlHxt5NzzdrGh-Ty70k-Ra6ymEFXFops5CxP9t8Zw/s1600/clove-toothache-compress-for-pain-2.jpg" height="400" title="Clove Toothache Compress for Pain Relief [Home Remedies]2" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Directions</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rinse your mouth with warm salt water to get it nicely flushed out. By doing this beforehand, you’re allowing the oil to do its job the very best it can since there’s nothing to block it or make it hard to sink down into the sore spot.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mix a few drops of clove essential oil with ½ teaspoon of olive oil. Thoroughly soak a cotton ball in this mixture and then hold it gently but firmly against the sore tooth or gum. If you wanted to take a shortcut, you could try putting some of the oil on a cotton swab and dabbing it directly where it hurts, however, jabbing a cotton swab onto a hurting tooth or gum may not be too comfortable.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Keep in mind that this is just a solution to get rid of the pain, not something that will cure whatever is making your tooth hurt. Brushing and flossing regularly and eating less processed sugary/salty foods can help prevent toothaches in the long run as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: small;">Dental cavities — also known as caries, the Latin word for "decay" — are formed when bacteria living in the mouth digest carbohydrate debris left on the teeth after you eat (<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment.html" target="_blank">Cause Cavities</a></b>). Such debris might include the refined sugars found in cookies, candy and other treats, but can also come from healthy foods like whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Does <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/does-sugar-really-cause-cavities.html" target="_blank">sugar cause cavities</a>?</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhia87D5IjnDe-N20YAW9L4JgBTS6SWu3Iz_RLDXfYnXXgy8N2_u-wF7XmPh7kCZCqYFs7inJFSilhmjFSxqt1ExNKxCe3GRdan6Hc69pfdLMy0-Q4PAeZmDZH901ZAaBg05ea08GgsYA/s1600/does-sugar-really-cause-cavities.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Does Sugar really cause Cavities ?" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhia87D5IjnDe-N20YAW9L4JgBTS6SWu3Iz_RLDXfYnXXgy8N2_u-wF7XmPh7kCZCqYFs7inJFSilhmjFSxqt1ExNKxCe3GRdan6Hc69pfdLMy0-Q4PAeZmDZH901ZAaBg05ea08GgsYA/s1600/does-sugar-really-cause-cavities.jpg" height="266" title="Does Sugar really cause Cavities ?" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When digesting these carbohydrates, bacteria in your mouth produce an acid that combines with saliva to form that nasty stuff your dentist warned you about: plaque.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's plaque — <b>not sugar</b> — that leads to tooth decay. Plaque starts building up after every meal, and if it isn't brushed away frequently, it can erode the hard, outer enamel of a tooth, resulting in tiny holes in the tooth's surface. These holes mark the first stage of cavity formation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And those tiny holes can do a lot of damage if left untreated. Eventually, the acid and bacteria in plaque can eat through the other layers of your teeth, as well — from the softer layer of teeth under the enamel, known as dentin, to the third layer (the pulp), which contains your teeth's blood vessels and nerves. Cavities affecting the pulp of a tooth, as well as the bone supporting the tooth, can cause severe toothaches, sensitivity, pain when eating and abscesses in the mouth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ultimately, sugar is just one of many carbs that can land you in the dentist's chair, but that doesn't mean you should trade in your apples for candy corn just yet. In addition to the many health benefits of a plant-heavy diet, the kinds of foods you eat are important to oral health.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some foods — like hard candy, breath mints, raisins and dry cereal — can get stuck in the grooves and crevices of your teeth, where they could cause decay. Fruit and yogurt, on the other hand, wash away easily with saliva and are, therefore, less likely to cause plaque buildup.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And the way you consume food is just as important as the kinds of food you eat. For example, chugging a can of soda actually does less damage to your teeth than sipping on a soda throughout the day, because the acid created by mouth bacteria sticks around for 30 minutes after you eat or drink. So every time you munch another chip or take a sip of soda, you restart the plaque-production clock and increase your risk of developing cavities.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Carbonated soft drinks also contain phosphoric and citric acids that have been shown to erode tooth enamel. Eating or drinking highly acidic foods — even healthy foods, like citrus fruits — can lead to tooth decay if oral hygiene is not properly maintained.</div>

<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment.html" target="_blank">Cavities - Causes</a></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cavities are the result of two primary factors: bacteria in the mouth and a high-sugar and starch diet. Because of how these two elements work together, cavities are characterized as a dietobacterial disease.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Bacteria + sugar leads to plaque and tartar</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgGdK0WfMG-959gZEU5DCy8sH-9fQqC4IgHzNsD8pAXpa72LzGccZR_HF5pC297iFqwjxnR0YgKYmzyS0Li2GZehvdvx04ck60jBeAZgWRvscSo_c_-KqYVT4vK1BcpMxbFf2GtbGbsA/s1600/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tooth Decay - Causes, Symptoms & Treatment1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgGdK0WfMG-959gZEU5DCy8sH-9fQqC4IgHzNsD8pAXpa72LzGccZR_HF5pC297iFqwjxnR0YgKYmzyS0Li2GZehvdvx04ck60jBeAZgWRvscSo_c_-KqYVT4vK1BcpMxbFf2GtbGbsA/s1600/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment-2.jpg" height="242" title="Tooth Decay - Causes, Symptoms & Treatment1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The mouth’s normal bacteria combine with food pieces and saliva to form plaque. Plaque is a sticky, invisible substance that accumulates quickly. Sugar- or starch-rich foods make plaque stickier. If plaque stays on the teeth for more than a few days, it gets harder and becomes a hard substance called tartar.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cavities form when bacteria in plaque and tartar convert sugar into acid. The acid dissolves tooth enamel. After the enamel is worn away, the acid reaches the next layer of the teeth. This layer, called dentin, is softer and susceptible to acid. The bacteria and acid continue to work their way through the tooth, creating a bigger and bigger hole.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
Symptoms</h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are often no symptoms of cavities. If there are symptoms, they usually do not appear until the tooth decay has reached the dentin level. If tooth decay reaches the next level, the pulp, you may experience a severe toothache, tooth sensitivity, and pain when biting.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>* Symptoms of cavities at any stage include:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Tooth pain, especially after having sweet, hot, or cold foods and drinks</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Visible pits or holes in the teeth. Cavities on the front teeth are the easiest to see and will look like a brown or black spot. Cavities in other parts of the mouth are often not visible without an X-ray.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>* Treatment</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Treatments for cavities/tooth day include fillings, crowns, and root canals.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>* Fillings</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Dentists do fillings by removing the decayed tooth material with a drill and replacing it with silver alloy, gold, porcelain or composite resin. Many dentists consider silver alloy and gold to be stronger than porcelain or resin, but because these materials are quite visible, dentists usually only use them on back teeth. Front-tooth cavities usually are filled with porcelain or composite resin, which more closely matches the tooth’s natural appearance.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>* Crowns or caps</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These are used if tooth decay is more extensive, the tooth is weakened, and there is little remaining tooth structure. The decayed or weakened area is removed and a crown is fitted over the remainder of the tooth. Crowns are usually made of gold, porcelain, or porcelain attached to metal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>* Root canal</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Root canals are done if decay or injury has killed the nerve in the tooth. The decayed area and the center of the tooth, including the pulp, are removed. The root is filled with a sealing material, the tooth is filled, and a crown is usually applied.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities.html" target="_blank">Cavities Prevention</a></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Just as there are two factors that cause cavities, there are two main factors to preventing them: oral hygiene and diet change.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Good oral hygiene includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing at least once, having a professional teeth cleaning every six months, and having X-rays and an dental exam annually to detect cavity development.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Reducing the amount of sugar — especially sugary drinks and juices — can help prevent cavities. You may consider brushing your teeth or rinsing your mouth after eating sticky foods. Minimizing snacking, avoiding constant sipping of sugary drinks, and not sucking on candy or mints can all help, too, because they produce a constant supply of acid in the mouth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.org/" target="_blank">Dental</a> sealants may help prevent cavities and are most frequently applied to the teeth of children after their molars come in. Sealants are thin, plastic-like coatings on the surface of the molars that prevents the accumulation of plaque.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioJ3qr8h2d9KCUGdFpPfruRN6_DlQpLeOmP02yWTjIePd_uwGJQIi5fvIiL0HABtNDiLKZfapNuKwMvLZIMIBT4liy-6WnTd_zzbL_-OAv_NSssTq5Pp2gnxj76Pd0dBtpNqlRiY1Ttg/s1600/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Tooth Decay - Causes, Symptoms & Treatment2" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioJ3qr8h2d9KCUGdFpPfruRN6_DlQpLeOmP02yWTjIePd_uwGJQIi5fvIiL0HABtNDiLKZfapNuKwMvLZIMIBT4liy-6WnTd_zzbL_-OAv_NSssTq5Pp2gnxj76Pd0dBtpNqlRiY1Ttg/s1600/tooth-decay-causes-symptoms-treatment-1.jpg" height="240" title="Tooth Decay - Causes, Symptoms & Treatment2" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fluoride is another cavity-prevention strategy. It can be consumed in drinking water or as a supplement. Topical fluoride is frequently applied as part of routine dentist visits. Your dentist may also prescribe a fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

You can’t schedule a <b>toothache</b> and it never fails that a major toothache hits when it’s late at night and your dentist’s office is closed, or you’re somewhere remote and getting to a dentist any time soon is just not an option.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1WgcqJmNPQ1AzMFHuGqN9qJuyUrxJj2fjDLzVwuZeInMt9d7ocNZONlKYt2qtFZHlPnNpoMUFpufkaX7A9AKrijeyqVMKTzbroK2IDxKOWqz9PY8cTpj46bTlujipEvMH0kOY1DKfMQ/s1600/toothache-21-home-remedies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Toothache - 21 Home Remedies" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1WgcqJmNPQ1AzMFHuGqN9qJuyUrxJj2fjDLzVwuZeInMt9d7ocNZONlKYt2qtFZHlPnNpoMUFpufkaX7A9AKrijeyqVMKTzbroK2IDxKOWqz9PY8cTpj46bTlujipEvMH0kOY1DKfMQ/s1600/toothache-21-home-remedies.jpg" height="265" title="Toothache - 21 Home Remedies" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-tooth-pain-natural-remedies.html" target="_blank">A toothache</a></b> can be felt in just about every part of your body. I have had a few so bad that they made me sick to my stomach from the pain alone.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although in most cases only a doctor can cure the source of the problem, this list of treatments & pain relief remedies should get you through until you can visit the dentist.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is important to note: If you have a toothache, there is a reason for it and it’s best to have it taken care of by a professional as soon as possible, rather than having it treated at home in hopes that the underlying issue will go away on its own. If it’s infected (if your gum area is swollen), don’t delay in getting professional medical care.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Directions: Apply the below remedies directly to both the problem tooth and surrounding gums unless otherwise directed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For items that direct you to chew, or for liquids that are to be swished around inside mouth, direct the liquid on and around the sore tooth as much as possible.</div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Do not swallow liquids. Rinse your mouth and spit them out when done : 21 <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-21-home-remedies.html" target="_blank">home remedies for toothache</a></span></h2>

<div>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Salt Water: Mix a heaping tablespoon full of salt in a small glass of warm water; swirl around inside your mouth for as long as you can, spit out. Repeat as needed.</li>
<li>Hydrogen Peroxide: Swoosh a bit of hydrogen peroxide. If the taste is too horrid for you, try diluting with a bit of water.</li>
<li>Alcohol: Swoosh a bit of whiskey, scotch, brandy or vodka. A strong mouthwash that contains alcohol will do the trick too.</li>
<li>Vanilla Extract: Saturate a cotton ball with vanilla and hold in place. Can also use a cotton swab dipped in extract.Other extracts that have the same effect are: - Almond Extract - Peppermint Extract - & Lemon Extract</li>
<li>Tea Tree Oil: Just a drop or two will do the trick. You can also add some to a cotton swab and hold in place or add a few drops of tea tree oil to a small glass of lukewarm to warm water and rinse your mouth with it.</li>
<li>Oil Of Oregano: Mix a few drops with a bit of olive oil, then saturate a cotton ball with mixture. Can replace the olive oil with lukewarm water if preferred.</li>
<li>Apple Cider Vinegar: Soak a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar (ACV) and hold it in place. Can also try regular household vinegar.</li>
<li>Ginger Root: Take a fresh piece of ginger and chew it a bit.</li>
<li>Garlic: Take a clove of garlic, smash it and apply (settle it inside cheek). You can also mash some garlic with salt.</li>
<li>Peppermint Leaves: Chew on fresh peppermint leaves. You can also dried leaves, just hold them in place.</li>
<li>Potato: Cut a fresh piece of potato (raw, skin off) and hold in place. Can also pound a piece of raw potato, mix in a bit of salt and use the mash.</li>
<li>Lime: Cut a slice or wedge of lime and apply, bite into it if you can to release some of the juice.</li>
<li>Onion: Slice a piece of fresh onion and hold it inside your mouth. The onion needs to be freshly cut (so it provides a bit of onion juice).</li>
<li>Plantain: Chew up a fresh plantain leaf. If you’re too sore to chew, use the other side of your mouth. Once the leaf is macerated a bit apply it to the problem area and hold in place.</li>
<li>Cucumber: Slice a fresh piece of cucumber and hold it over the sore area. If refrigerated, you might want to bring the cucumber to room temperature before using (if sensitive to cold) otherwise a cool piece can be soothing.You can also mash a piece with a bit of salt and pack it around the sore tooth.</li>
<li>Cayenne Pepper: Make a paste with cayenne pepper and water.</li>
<li>Black Pepper: You can use this full strength or make a mix of pepper and salt.</li>
<li>Baking Soda: Take a cotton swab and moisten it with a bit of water, dip it in baking soda (coat the swab really well with baking soda) then apply. You can also make a mouth rinse by mixing a heaping spoonful of baking soda in a small glass of lukewarm to warm water, dissolve the soda then swish the mixture in your mouth.</li>
<li>Cloves: This is remedy from the old timers (my great grandparents), rest a clove against the sore area until pain goes away. You can also use a drop or two of clove oil (BE CAREFUL: too much can be toxic) or make a thick paste of ground cloves and water or ground cloves and olive oil.</li>
<li>Tea: Make a fresh cup of tea then take the used tea bag (still warm) and stick it in your mouth. Careful not to tear the bag. The tannins that are naturally in tea leaves can help numb things.</li>
<li>Ice Pack: Cover an ice pack with a face cloth or towel then hold over your cheek where the problem is. This will help numb things. Make sure that you have some type of cloth between your skin and the ice, otherwise you can severely damage your skin.If that doesn’t work, try the opposite–a hot compress (making sure that it is not so hot as to scald your skin).</li>

<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-tooth-pain-natural-remedies.html" target="_blank">Toothaches</a></b> can vary greatly, from mild soreness to an unbearable throbbing pain in your teeth or around your jaws. Some of the main causes of toothaches are cavities, an infection, an exposed tooth root, a cracked tooth, gum disease, a loose filling, or jaw joint disorder.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-tooth-pain-natural-remedies.html" target="_blank">toothache</a></b> (see the above diagram) happens when the central region of the tooth, known as the pulp, becomes irritated or inflamed. The pulp consists of several nerve endings that are highly sensitive. Pulp can become inflamed or irritated for many reasons, some of which are noted above.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have toothache, it is best to seek immediate advice from a dentist before the problem becomes worse. But if you are not able to make it to the dentist, you can try some natural remedies to relieve the pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>1. Pepper and Salt</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Salt mixed with pepper can be of great use when a tooth becomes extremely sensitive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUWJBApc6y0Tc9eqHAzLjq8HTSCiFUXcuJXXPeGIG9It-PxLzqJ2SCXgXo7sOiv8HiC3xeNYmYsWqkQBXd9DC5gkpc2fY29pU4kgo5iiPBTNRA6ExBEpkIeeLgUNyk979furF45AR7Mg/s1600/toothache-with-home-remedies-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Toothache with Home Remedies 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUWJBApc6y0Tc9eqHAzLjq8HTSCiFUXcuJXXPeGIG9It-PxLzqJ2SCXgXo7sOiv8HiC3xeNYmYsWqkQBXd9DC5gkpc2fY29pU4kgo5iiPBTNRA6ExBEpkIeeLgUNyk979furF45AR7Mg/s1600/toothache-with-home-remedies-2.jpg" height="337" title="Toothache with Home Remedies 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mix equal amounts of pepper and common salt with a few drops of water to form a paste. Apply the paste directly on the affected tooth and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Do this daily for several days.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>2. Garlic</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Use of garlic can also give immense relief from toothache. Garlic has antibiotic and other medicinal properties that can be very effective in slowing down bacterial effects.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mix a crushed garlic clove (or garlic powder) with some table salt or black salt and apply it directly on the affected tooth to alleviate the pain. If you prefer, you can chew one or two cloves of garlic to get relief.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Repeat this natural treatment for a few days.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>3. Cloves</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
No home remedy is better for toothaches than cloves. Cloves have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antioxidant and anesthetic properties that help alleviate tooth pain and fight infection.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grind two cloves, and mix it in a little olive oil or any vegetable oil. Now apply this solution on the affected tooth. Dab a cotton ball in clove oil and rub it directly on the sore tooth. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops of clove oil in half a glass of water and use it as a mouth rinse.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>4. Onion</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Onions have antiseptic and antimicrobial properties that can control a toothache. It can provide relief from pain by killing the germs causing an infection.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
At the first sign of a toothache, chew raw onion for a few minutes to relieve pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you are not able to chew it, place a piece of raw onion directly on the bad tooth or gum.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>5. Asafetida</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Dental problems such as toothaches and bleeding gums can be treated at home with the use of asafetida.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Simply add a pinch of powdered asafetida to lemon juice and then warm it slightly. Use a cotton pad to apply the solution on the affected area. This will give you quick relief from the pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Alternatively, asafetida fried in clarified butter can be put in the tooth cavity for instant relief.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>6. Warm Salt Water</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A simple glass of warm salt water can help treat a toothache. Mix half a spoon of common salt in a glass of very warm water and use it to rinse your mouth thoroughly. When the solution comes in contact with the affected tooth, it will extract fluid from the tissue and reduce swelling on the nerves. This mouthwash will also fight bacteria that cause infection.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>7. Guava Leaves</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fresh guava leaves can also alleviate toothache.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Simply chew one or two tender guava leaves until the juice starts working on the affected tooth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another remedy is to put four to five guava leaves in water and boil it. Allow the solution to cool to a warm temperature and add some salt. Use the solution as a mouthwash.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you don’t have guava leaves, you can use raw spinach leaves instead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>8. Wheatgrass Juice</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Wheatgrass has natural antibacterial properties that will relieve the pain and also help fight tooth decay. Extract the juice of wheatgrass and use it as a mouthwash. It will absorb toxins from the gums,reduce the growth of bacteria and keep the infection under control. If you wish, you can simply chew on wheatgrass.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>9. Bayberry</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bayberry is also a good ingredient for pain relief and to strengthen your gums.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Make a paste of bayberry bark and mix it with vinegar.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apply the paste on the affected tooth for relief from the pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>10. Ice Cube</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ice can help alleviate tooth pain by numbing the nerves and gums.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Put a small ice cube in a plastic bag and then wrap it in a thin cotton cloth. Hold it on your cheek near the aching tooth for a few minutes. You can also place ice directly on the tooth, but do so carefully. If you have exposed nerves, contact with the cold can cause more pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
An acupressure technique that can ease tooth pain is to rub an ice cube between your index finger and thumb for a few minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you do not get relief from your toothache after trying these <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothache-with-home-remedies.html" target="_blank">remedies for toothache</a>, consult a dentist immediately. Some dental and gum problems require more aggressive treatment then home remedies.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Generally this occurs due to compromised enamel which is allowing material to enter directly into the pulp (the center of your tooth). Tooth pain happens when the nerve is inflamed. This is primarily caused by the process of demineralization - the loss of minerals from your teeth. This makes your enamel weak, which eventually leads to pain and inflammation. The solution is to use both topical treatments as well as internal treatments to change the root cause of loss of minerals from your teeth. Sometimes the pain can also actually be gum pain, from gum disease or from other gum problems; just be aware of this.</div>

<span style="font-size: small;">Fortunately, there are some additional steps you can take to help <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities.html" target="_blank">prevent cavities</a>, and if you do happen to get one, there are some natural remedies that may help you get rid of it. Make your smile shining ^^</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga-rxysLAJOnGod9-eKXOJweATtYPnU7c5RVXUPjrvLEcHRT2zarzHw159Jrm4QN5zhZogLdAWey6cUXJbu-Ii0-r_Fd5JuIeA4kV-FRaf73QCstGJA2oID4ueRBw_k_plKfhnBCkD_g/s1600/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="12 natural ways to Prevent Cavities" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga-rxysLAJOnGod9-eKXOJweATtYPnU7c5RVXUPjrvLEcHRT2zarzHw159Jrm4QN5zhZogLdAWey6cUXJbu-Ii0-r_Fd5JuIeA4kV-FRaf73QCstGJA2oID4ueRBw_k_plKfhnBCkD_g/s1600/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities.jpg" height="266" title="12 natural ways to Prevent Cavities" width="400" /></a></div>
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">So, what are Cavities?</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Cavities</b> are a type of infection caused by bacteria that destroy the material of the tooth. All humans have bacteria in their mouths, and it can easily accumulate on the surface of teeth, particularly after eating. Over time, if not regularly brushed or flushed away, the bacteria can form a sticky film called “plaque.” Plaque is more difficult to remove, except with dental tools.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Plaque gradually dissolves the minerals in the surfaces of teeth, resulting in small pits that get larger over time <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities.html" target="_blank">cavities</a></b>. Though everyone is at risk for cavities, some have more risk factors than others.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Those who crave sweets, and those who live on a raw food diet, may be more at risk. Foods that cling to teeth, such as dairy products, dried fruits, cake and cookies are more likely to cause decay than other foods. Those who snack throughout the day or who drink acidic beverages are more at risk, as are those who suffer from eating disorders, heartburn, or dry mouth. Age also plays a part, with younger and older patients more at risk.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUXlCFz89cGsWwM9kq3PLlW-jEhfdNeBb6DWHyMPc6iBgJ44i7Yf8ZFlTIRsITLHMSc9okvBwILfEqyRHM9yA1fcng0-iTb0nAjBvufwyM1ZJTnBL50XjsfUnazN4E0WQW7tQXF-7pFw/s1600/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="12 natural ways to Prevent Cavities 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUXlCFz89cGsWwM9kq3PLlW-jEhfdNeBb6DWHyMPc6iBgJ44i7Yf8ZFlTIRsITLHMSc9okvBwILfEqyRHM9yA1fcng0-iTb0nAjBvufwyM1ZJTnBL50XjsfUnazN4E0WQW7tQXF-7pFw/s1600/12-natural-ways-to-prevent-cavities-1.jpg" height="265" title="12 natural ways to Prevent Cavities 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nutrient imbalances may also shift body chemistry enough to make teeth more prone to decay. Dr. Melvin Page, who wrote Cure Tooth Decay: <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-to-heal-cavities-naturally-for-you.html" target="_blank">Heal and Prevent Cavities</a></b> with Nutrition, notes that a disturbance in the ratio of calcium to phosphorus in the blood causes tooth decay and gum disease.</div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<b>12 Natural Ways to Prevent Cavities:</b></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In addition to regular brushing and flossing, there are other ways to destroy plaque and keep teeth safe from destructive bacteria.</div>
<br />
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Avoid refined sugars: Foods that contain refined sugar are more likely to create plaque.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Drink green and black tea: Teas reduce plaque build-up and help suppress bacteria levels in the mouth.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Brush before breakfast: Bacteria likes to build up in your mouth overnight, so brushing first thing in the morning can help get rid of sticky plaque. Particularly if you drink orange juice or other acidic beverages in the morning, brushing before eating can better protect your teeth. Acidic foods weaken enamel for at least an hour after consumption, so brushing within an hour after eating or drinking acidic foods can actually weaken enamel and cause permanent damage.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Eat tooth-healthy foods: Cheese, nuts, and apples can help break up the plaque that adheres to your teeth. High fiber foods can also help increase the production of saliva in your mouth, which serves as a natural protector for teeth.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Chew sugar-free gum: It also stimulates the production of saliva—good for your teeth. It also helps cleanse the teeth of leftover food particles after a meal.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Get more xylitol: It’s a natural sweetener that prevents the growth of bacteria in the mouth. Choose gum with xylitol or add the sweetener to some food items and/or your toothpaste or mouthwash.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Sip carbonated drinks with a straw: Even if you choose sparkling water, carbonated drinks can still weaken enamel. A 2007 study, for example, found that flavored sparkling waters, even when sugar-free, are potentially erosive because of their acidic properties. Sipping with a straw helps keep the acid away from your teeth.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Oil pulling: As mentioned in a previous article, oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic technique that helps clean the mouth of harmful bacterial. Simply swish your mouth with a spoonful of sesame or sunflower oil for about 15-20 minutes.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Drink more water: Water not only helps clean away bacteria, but is important for the production of saliva.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Rinse with tea tree oil: This natural oil has powerful anti-bacterial properties. Dilute in water and rinse once or twice a day. Snack on organic licorice twists: Certain compounds in licorice have been found in studies to hep kill the bacteria that cause gum disease and tooth decay. It can also help prevent oral infections.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Nutrition: Make sure you’re getting enough vitamins A, D, E, and K in your diet, as well as enough calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and other key minerals.</li>
</ul>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The lies perpetrated about tooth decay. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to the American Dental Association, the reason we have tooth decay is as follows: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“[<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/how-to-heal-cavities-naturally-for-you.html" target="_blank">Tooth decay</a></b>] occurs when foods containing carbohydrates (sugars and starches) such as milk, pop, raisins, cakes or candy are frequently left on the teeth. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bacteria that live in the mouth thrive on these foods, producing acids as a result. Over a period of time, these acids destroy tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.” </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>There are a few problems with this theory, including: </i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Groups of indigenous people who had fermentable carbohydrates stuck on their teeth all the timethat did not brush or floss were mostly or completely free of tooth decay. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Bacteria do not consume processed sugar or flour because of the lack of nutrients in them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Foods that bacteria like to eat, such as milk, vegetables, meat, fish and fruit, are not commonly implicated in causes of tooth decay. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So if the modern explanation of tooth decay is not accurate, what is actually the cause of tooth decay? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaZc_DpZN4OnC6KhKPG3I2tgAc3CJPuEtPk2zYGZLmxeEXL96OuTsio8BfhIc3-mXNkkBG0ThCjD-e5G0Ll5BpwBYTX9nsCm_C6LG_3Dj5UEZwdnmukDfmCkX-qeVL_WfiGDsqGeh-Mw/s1600/how-to-heal-cavities-naturally-for-you-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="How to Heal Cavities Naturally for you 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaZc_DpZN4OnC6KhKPG3I2tgAc3CJPuEtPk2zYGZLmxeEXL96OuTsio8BfhIc3-mXNkkBG0ThCjD-e5G0Ll5BpwBYTX9nsCm_C6LG_3Dj5UEZwdnmukDfmCkX-qeVL_WfiGDsqGeh-Mw/s1600/how-to-heal-cavities-naturally-for-you-1.jpg" height="266" title="How to Heal Cavities Naturally for you 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Usually go to dentist to test you teeth ^^</i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>What actually causes tooth decay </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tooth decay, as researched by Dr. Weston Price and other dental pioneers, boiled down to three factors: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Not enough minerals in the diet. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Not enough fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) in the diet. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Nutrients not being readily bioavailable, and your intestinal system not properly absorbing them. The presence of phytic acid largely influences this factor. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Over a period of time, if your diet lacks vitamins and minerals from a poor diet and/or contains high levels of phytates (from grains, seeds, nuts, and legumes), the blood chemistry and the ratio of calcium and phosphorous become out of balance, which results in minerals being pulled from bones, causing tooth and bone loss. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, the long-standing belief that sugar causes tooth decay is true, but as a result of it depleting nutrients from the body, not because bacteria eat it and produce acid that ruins your teeth. The food remedies that can heal cavities and tooth decay In order to restore the ratio of calcium and phosphorus in our blood, and to enable minerals to bond to our teeth, it is not enough to just avoid eating too many sweet or processed foods. We must also eat health-building foods, containing copious amounts of minerals and vitamins that will build a glassy hard tooth structure. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Supplements to consider are: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Fermented cod liver oil </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
– very high in fat soluble vitamins A, D and K. Magnesium </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
– required to use calcium and phosphorous effectively. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Foods to focus on are: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Coconut oil, grass-fed organic dairy (especially butter), grass-fed meats, seafood and bone broths. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Organic cooked vegetables (soups with bone broth are ideal). </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- Organ and gland meats, like liver. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Limit foods that are high in phytic acid, like grains, beans, nuts and seeds, as well as limiting processed food intake full of processed flours and sugars that upset blood sugar balance. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Gelatin – if you don’t have time to make bone broth, this is a good alternative and is great for gums and digestion. Now go get your pearly white smile back. </div>

<span style="font-size: small;">Now <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Eastmeetswestdental</a> There are five basic steps to caring for teeth and gums:</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<ol>
<li>Brushing</li>
<li>Flossing</li>
<li>Eating right</li>
<li>Visiting the dentist</li>
<li>Rinsing</li>
</ol>
<br />
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Tips for Brushing Teeth</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Brush at least twice a day. If you can, brush after every meal. Ideally wait 30 minutes after eating, this will allow any enamel that softened from acid during eating to re-harden and not get brushed away. Brushing removes plaque, a film of bacteria that clings to teeth. When bacteria in plaque come into contact with food, they produce acids. These acids lead to cavities. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn0JSN6qjk5cKy1Yuw4IxnsCa0v32j0_3d04VT0nzwrCDN8oLoCPevcufo2XH2QVrrf84XGoWnqsaSfkTSFRoxHFiYMvoub6y7kuQO9Hg2XsydlDf3iBz2sXS0IjnoE4nFzSDOhrSeYA/s1600/five-basic-steps-to-caring-for-teeth.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Five basic steps to caring for teeth and gums" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgn0JSN6qjk5cKy1Yuw4IxnsCa0v32j0_3d04VT0nzwrCDN8oLoCPevcufo2XH2QVrrf84XGoWnqsaSfkTSFRoxHFiYMvoub6y7kuQO9Hg2XsydlDf3iBz2sXS0IjnoE4nFzSDOhrSeYA/s1600/five-basic-steps-to-caring-for-teeth.png" height="227" title="Five basic steps to caring for teeth and gums" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>- To brush:</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Place a pea-sized dab of fluoride toothpaste on the head of the toothbrush. (Use a soft toothbrush.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Place the toothbrush against the teeth at a 45-degree angle up to the gum line.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Move the brush across the teeth using a small circular motion. Continue with this motion cleaning one tooth at a time. Keep the tips of the bristles against the gum line. Avoid pressing so hard that the bristles lie flat against the teeth. (Only the tips of the toothbrush clean the teeth.) Let the bristles reach into spaces between teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Brush across the top of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Make sure the bristles get into the grooves and crevices.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Use the same small circular motion to clean the backside of the upper and lower teeth -- the side that faces the tongue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To clean the inside of the bottom front teeth, angle the head in an up-and-down position toward the bottom inside of the mouth and move the toothbrush in a small circle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For the inside of the top front teeth, angle the brush in an up-and-down position with the tip of the head pointing towards the roof of the mouth. Move the toothbrush in a small circle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Give your tongue a few gentle brush strokes, brushing from the back of your tongue forward. Do not scrub. This helps remove bacteria and freshens your breath.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After brushing your teeth for two to three minutes, rinse your mouth with water.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Replace your toothbrush with a new one every three to four months.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMsFnNypFMVb-pyuOWBxYxxM8xWt0iEajo3b59f4eQRbGZUnTI7RsQw3OwzOv7jLbaWl3HHwAy8YB-bacZY_dk_2Uu4004-iaup9ZG_GH_7GflGkbr9ZzYvcttCDlRxjK19cgd1-GL5A/s1600/five-basic-steps-to-caring-for-teeth-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Five basic steps to caring for teeth and gums 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMsFnNypFMVb-pyuOWBxYxxM8xWt0iEajo3b59f4eQRbGZUnTI7RsQw3OwzOv7jLbaWl3HHwAy8YB-bacZY_dk_2Uu4004-iaup9ZG_GH_7GflGkbr9ZzYvcttCDlRxjK19cgd1-GL5A/s1600/five-basic-steps-to-caring-for-teeth-1.jpg" height="263" title="Five basic steps to caring for teeth and gums 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Tips for Flossing Your Teeth:</span></h3>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Floss teeth once a day. Flossing gets rid of food and plaque between the teeth, where your toothbrush cannot reach. If plaque stays between teeth, it can harden into tartar, which must be removed by a dentist or hygienist. To floss:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remove about an 18-inch strip of floss from the dispenser.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Wind the floss around the middle fingers of each hand, leaving a 1-inch section open for flossing. Floss the top teeth first, then the bottom.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Place the floss in your mouth and use your index fingers to push the floss between the teeth. Be careful not to push too hard and injure the gums.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Move the floss up and down against the tooth and up and around the gum line. The floss should form a C-shape around the tooth as you floss.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Floss between each tooth as well as behind the back teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Use a clean section of floss as needed and take up used floss by winding it around the fingers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

<span style="font-size: small;">Sau đây là bài viết khá hữu ích mà trang <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">nha khoa</a> sưu tầm + biên tập gửi tới các bạn độc giả về nhưng điều cần <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/nhung-dieu-can-luu-y-khi-kham-chua-rang.html" target="_blank">lưu ý khi khám chữa răng</a> tại các cơ sở nha khoa nhé.</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHE2Bge1h07GtJAkJil5fVPE8D5F9JkzwsuxqbAd1OGwEbFQeRLYNMgQ5Nh2WFhuAvCEh3sd4q7wvjCI9DhA0VmFraDyC2V8hVvzfr2evWxlqLxbmgwN09NMgpVrOznYBTUBwsgwo3vg/s1600/nhung-dieu-can-luu-y-khi-kham-chua-rang-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Những điều bạn cần lưu ý khi khám chữa răng" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHE2Bge1h07GtJAkJil5fVPE8D5F9JkzwsuxqbAd1OGwEbFQeRLYNMgQ5Nh2WFhuAvCEh3sd4q7wvjCI9DhA0VmFraDyC2V8hVvzfr2evWxlqLxbmgwN09NMgpVrOznYBTUBwsgwo3vg/s1600/nhung-dieu-can-luu-y-khi-kham-chua-rang-1.jpg" height="223" title="Những điều bạn cần lưu ý khi khám chữa răng" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Chúng ta cần phải thận trọng lựa chọn bệnh viện và nhân viên y tế qua đào tạo nghiêm khắc của bệnh viện chính quy khi rửa răng.</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiev2UMf5zE-TvbTDRba1Ie6cDMF9-2_Pacv2Uvsuh2yHPewM_6iRdj7oJi5dVBsye0Nq1I8qrz4V8jdkNI3HRbpD-6iV70KFuKqAO6bSVFJlgCZIon1K6lzf_GXh1X6roCAGJdndfFbw/s1600/nhung-dieu-can-luu-y-khi-kham-chua-rang.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Những điều bạn cần lưu ý khi khám chữa răng 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiev2UMf5zE-TvbTDRba1Ie6cDMF9-2_Pacv2Uvsuh2yHPewM_6iRdj7oJi5dVBsye0Nq1I8qrz4V8jdkNI3HRbpD-6iV70KFuKqAO6bSVFJlgCZIon1K6lzf_GXh1X6roCAGJdndfFbw/s1600/nhung-dieu-can-luu-y-khi-kham-chua-rang.jpg" height="260" title="Những điều bạn cần lưu ý khi khám chữa răng 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tránh các thực phẩm có tính axit vì chúng sẽ ăn mòn men răng và làm cho răng dễ xỉn màu.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Bước 4: Bỏ thuốc lá (Nói không với thuốc lá)</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hút thuốc không chỉ làm tăng nguy cơ ung thư phổi và các bệnh tật khác mà còn làm răng xỉn màu.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Bước 5: Mang trang sức bạc</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Màu vàng sẽ làm răng bạn trông vàng hơn. Vậy nên đeo trang sức bằng bạc hay vàng trắng sẽ làm răng bạn trông lấp lánh hơn.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Bước 6: Chọn màu son môi</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Chọn son môi đỏ hay màu sắc ánh xanh biển nhẹ nhẹ sẽ tôn màu răng nhất, giúp răng có vẻ trắng sáng nhất.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Những màu son môi có tông đỏ san hô, cam hay vàng sẽ làm răng trông vàng hơn.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Bước 7: Không mặc đồ trắng</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothbrush-care-and-replacement.html" target="_blank">Toothbrush</a> when traveling ?</h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How can I take care of my toothbrush?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To keep your toothbrush and yourself healthy, make sure you let it dry out between uses. Toothbrushes can be breeding grounds for germs, fungus and bacteria, which after a while can build up to significant levels. After using your toothbrush, shake it vigorously under tap water and store it in an upright position so that it can air out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaKCIdGvwWdDq1FWsi_4as3JfN-c4AhuYtaTGqzbIz1Gbv2ZUd8j479JuPwNFvx4VBPkEtdU75xsJyOE33brkIC9oSc-Yd0mcdtcdNt1hcBlh9_W2kgKqwn6biDKIRwOO7dSzIfswdLg/s1600/toothbrush-care-and-replacement.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Toothbrush Care and Replacement" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaKCIdGvwWdDq1FWsi_4as3JfN-c4AhuYtaTGqzbIz1Gbv2ZUd8j479JuPwNFvx4VBPkEtdU75xsJyOE33brkIC9oSc-Yd0mcdtcdNt1hcBlh9_W2kgKqwn6biDKIRwOO7dSzIfswdLg/s1600/toothbrush-care-and-replacement.jpg" height="223" title="Toothbrush Care and Replacement" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To prevent cold and flu viruses from being passed between brushes, try to keep your toothbrush from touching others when it is stored. A standard toothbrush holder with slots for several brushes to hang upright is a worthwhile investment in your family's health.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How often should I change my toothbrush?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most dentists agree you should change your toothbrush every three months. Studies show that after three months of normal wear and tear, toothbrushes are much less effective at removing plaque from teeth and gums compared to new ones. The bristles break down and loose their effectiveness in getting to all those tricky corners around your teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You're wathching at <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/</a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is also important to change toothbrushes after you've had a cold, the flu, a mouth infection or a sore throat. That's because germs can hide in toothbrush bristles and lead to reinfection. Even if you haven't been sick, fungus and bacteria can develop in the bristles of your toothbrush —another reason to change your toothbrush regularly.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How can I protect my toothbrush when traveling?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A plastic toothbrush case will protect toothbrush bristles from becoming squashed or flattened in your traveling kit. After brushing, however, you should let your toothbrush dry in the open air, to help reduce the spread of germs.</div>

<span style="font-size: x-large;">How to <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/take-care-of-your-teeth.html" target="_blank">take care your teeth</a>?</span></h2>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thanks to better at-home care and in-office dental treatments, more people are keeping their teeth throughout their lives. Some diseases and conditions can make dental disease and tooth loss more likely. But most of us have a good deal of control over whether we keep our teeth into old age.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV3557Mq-1cqY5ApA_aBxep1P2OAOAgsTBfYixVBp_SWF3Io6nemyOvOnrVp2P0f_8FDG386k6QhnZV0AyoIr94AHCWTNxsBP_aXYZ8sk1hqNmw28rozF_2WVtjHriPOGUVrvDwakaUw/s1600/take-care-of-your-teeth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Take care of your teeth" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV3557Mq-1cqY5ApA_aBxep1P2OAOAgsTBfYixVBp_SWF3Io6nemyOvOnrVp2P0f_8FDG386k6QhnZV0AyoIr94AHCWTNxsBP_aXYZ8sk1hqNmw28rozF_2WVtjHriPOGUVrvDwakaUw/s1600/take-care-of-your-teeth.jpg" height="240" title="Take care of your teeth" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The most important thing you can do is to brush and floss your teeth each day.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most mouth woes are caused by plaque. <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/6-habits-that-put-plaque-on-your-teeth.html" target="_blank">Plaque</a></b> is a sticky layer of bacteria, bits of food and other organic matter that forms on your teeth. The bacteria in plaque make acids that cause cavities. Plaque also leads to periodontal (gum) disease. This can become a serious infection. It can damage bone and destroy the tissues around your teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The best defense is to remove plaque before it has a chance to build up and cause problems. Brushing removes plaque from the large surfaces of the teeth and from just under the gums. Flossing removes plaque from between your teeth. You also can use other tools to keep your mouth and teeth clean.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Using Too Much Mouthwash</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOLzRYbAsZ-0kjSVlBZS4aVMTOADLygZIscG8YzukfM1bk9GjyQzFdRl7Zg0Ea6SUe2JwTsDKYNO7thzkcYg2djkHd7Ajqbose3NQwk8sfMkxFNop6DMdfyF84L0dgrVMUeKdIqY5wzQ/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="What Causes Sensitive Teeth?" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOLzRYbAsZ-0kjSVlBZS4aVMTOADLygZIscG8YzukfM1bk9GjyQzFdRl7Zg0Ea6SUe2JwTsDKYNO7thzkcYg2djkHd7Ajqbose3NQwk8sfMkxFNop6DMdfyF84L0dgrVMUeKdIqY5wzQ/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth.jpg" height="271" title="What Causes Sensitive Teeth?" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Love keeping your breath minty fresh? If you grab frequent swigs of mouthwash throughout the day, you may be setting yourself up for sensitive teeth. That's because some mouthwashes contain acids that may make already-sensitive teeth worse. The solution: Ask your dentist about neutral fluoride rinses.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Eating Acidic Foods</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2d6qGPaC52otg-baEBlJO_08IT0TjAP0mo-1A09rZjcw4SCGno3_Sj8JiHCyqmfWRh9RMS-qaPrhN0ZwAp5GcrDnV3OYq5_S9N1Woken50w2APoQSXtsfToC_bm_QoJL4wl6MQdOqxQ/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="What Causes Sensitive Teeth? 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2d6qGPaC52otg-baEBlJO_08IT0TjAP0mo-1A09rZjcw4SCGno3_Sj8JiHCyqmfWRh9RMS-qaPrhN0ZwAp5GcrDnV3OYq5_S9N1Woken50w2APoQSXtsfToC_bm_QoJL4wl6MQdOqxQ/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth-1.jpg" height="271" title="What Causes Sensitive Teeth? 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Can't get enough tomatoes, citrus, fruit juices, and other acidic goodies? Your teeth can. Enjoy too many acid-rich foods and drinks and you could erode the protective enamel on your teeth, exposing the vulnerable dentin beneath. Can't give up these tart favorites? Help neutralize the acids with a piece of cheese or glass of milk after eating.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Tooth Whiteners and Some Toothpastes</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirhX0eqSfZ-OQZDEN0ILLuehKXnf2u702VsbOrxEfoskEr6xm2X5as0ZyknDng-dTcFn9wE6g4_oPvGUmJZQTZT9uueB3SxQhB-HZ2y-ofZKQqJy2gWeFNqJT4Z1_abhXSIUdN7GuEAA/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="What Causes Sensitive Teeth? 3" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirhX0eqSfZ-OQZDEN0ILLuehKXnf2u702VsbOrxEfoskEr6xm2X5as0ZyknDng-dTcFn9wE6g4_oPvGUmJZQTZT9uueB3SxQhB-HZ2y-ofZKQqJy2gWeFNqJT4Z1_abhXSIUdN7GuEAA/s1600/what-causes-sensitive-teeth-3.jpg" height="271" title="What Causes Sensitive Teeth? 3" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Just about everyone wants a brighter smile, but for some people, tooth whiteners and toothpastes with peroxide-based bleaching solutions can cause sensitive teeth. The sensitivity is often temporary, going away once you stop using the product. Looking for the best options for you? Talk to your dentist at <b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">East Meets West</a></b> Dental.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Receding Gums</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The roots of your teeth contain thousands of tiny tubes that lead to the nerve center of your teeth. Usually roots are hidden under a protective cover of gum tissue. But if you have periodontal disease, the gums may start pulling away from teeth, exposing the ultra-sensitive root. Receding gums need a dentist's help, so talk to yours.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Brushing Your Teeth Too Hard</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Think brushing your teeth harder cleans them better? Think again. Brushing too strenuously (or using a hard-bristled brush) can expose tooth roots by causing gum recession. It can also wear away your tooth's enamel and expose dentin (yellow). Holes in the dentin are really microscopic tubes (blue) that allow hot, cold, and sweet foods to stimulate tooth nerves. Ouch!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Recent Dental Work</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It hardly seems fair, but sometimes keeping your pearly whites in good condition with regular dental care can actually make them sensitive. Teeth cleanings, replacement crowns, tooth restorations, and root planing can all lead to some short-term tooth sensitivity. If you're worried about this before a procedure, talk to your dentist.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Cracked Teeth</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Munching ice, biting into hard candies, having large fillings -- they can all lead to chipped, broken teeth. Once a tooth is cracked (left), the nerve-rich pulp hidden deep inside may become irritated when chewing rubs the cracked tooth pieces together. A crack may also fill with bacteria, leading to inflammation, which can result in even more pain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Grinding or Clenching Your Teeth</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tooth enamel is the strongest material in your body, but it's no match for the power of clenching or grinding. Over time, both of these often-unconscious habits can wear away tooth enamel, leaving your teeth's nerves more vulnerable. Mouth guards, lifestyle changes, and even diet adjustments can all help combat clenching and grinding.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Tooth Decay</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Decay, like this cavity, exposes the root of your tooth to a whole host of irritants: hot, cold, sweets, even air. Good oral hygiene, eating right, and seeing your dentist regularly are the best ways to battle decay and keep your teeth in top form.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Be Good to Your Mouth</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You don't have to go it alone; talk to your dentist to discover exactly what's behind your sensitive teeth. To strengthen pearly whites, you may need to make a few more changes to your oral care routine, like switching to a soft-bristled tooth brush, using a desensitizing toothpaste, or trying a fluoridated mouth rinse.</div>

Regular <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes.html" target="_blank">brushing</a> and flossing are sure bets for <a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">dental</a> health. What else could you be doing -- or avoiding -- to keep plaque off your knockout smile?<br />

<br />
The secrets to avoiding plaque buildup aren’t so secret. You’ve probably been hearing most of them since before you lost your baby teeth. But bad habits have a way of sneaking up on us. Make sure you’re pushing back against plaque by avoiding these five bad habits for tooth health.<br />
<br />
<b><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/6-habits-that-put-plaque-on-your-teeth.html" target="_blank">6 Habits That Put Plaque on Your Teeth:</a></b><br />
<br />
<b>Not Brushing Regularly</b><br />
<br />
No one else might notice if you don’t brush your teeth twice a day, every day. But your teeth will.<br />
<br />
“Plaque is a little like bees in the summertime,” Price says. “One or two won’t really bother you, but if you let them build a beehive in the backyard, you’ve got a problem.”<br />
<br />
Brush your teeth gently twice a day, using a fluoride-containing toothpaste. The exact technique isn’t as important as concentrating to make sure you’re softly brushing all the surfaces of your teeth.<br />
<br />
<b>Not Flossing Each Day</b><br />
<br />
Brushing doesn’t reach the spaces between teeth, but plaque does. A simple daily flossing between teeth clears away plaque before it can cause damage.<br />
<br />
“Flossing also cleans plaque at the gum line, another area that brushing doesn’t reach,” says Price. If left alone, plaque below the gum line can lead to periodontal disease.<br />
<br />
If you just can’t stand flossing your teeth, consider using one of the many other ADA-approved products to clean between your teeth each day. They’re available in any supermarket or drugstore; ask your dentist if you’re not sure which one to use.<br />
<br />
<b> Not Using Rinses</b><br />
<br />
Mouth rinses with fluoride have been shown to prevent decay. Antibacterial rinses reduce plaque and gingivitis and attack bad breath. Keep brushing and flossing, and if you haven’t already, add a mouth rinse, such as an antimicrobial or a fluoride rinse (not just a mouthwash), for a triple threat against teeth destroyers.<br />
<br />
<b> Avoiding the Dentist</b><br />
<br />
Even if you brush and floss your teeth daily, you’ll miss some plaque. Over time, that plaque hardens into tartar that needs to be removed at your dentist’s office. Yet more than a third of people surveyed haven’t seen their dentist in more than a year.<br />
<br />
“Even dentists don’t like to go to the dentist,” jokes Price. But studies show that in general, people who neglect regular dentist visits get more cavities and have a higher chance of losing their teeth.<br />
<br />
Once a year teeth cleanings are considered the minimum. Twice a year teeth cleanings may be better for many people. “Most dentists recommend twice a year cleanings or more,” according to Price.<br />
<br />
<b> Neglecting Nature’s Toothbrushes:</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfhgpuwdk3i7LdGZyrGVi-Yd2mw0q-551qZAps3Vh3OBX2LUFDMwwl5bXB3suDGPTlaQS_YpTHe3zrCvXbjMdJPo_hXgevuyRf1fRZ51Cz5ATrNyx22tdTWXhO3QUcz2GDEWWcZRXAlQ/s1600/6-habits-that-put-plaque-on-your-teeth-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="6 Habits That Put Plaque on Your Teeth 1" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfhgpuwdk3i7LdGZyrGVi-Yd2mw0q-551qZAps3Vh3OBX2LUFDMwwl5bXB3suDGPTlaQS_YpTHe3zrCvXbjMdJPo_hXgevuyRf1fRZ51Cz5ATrNyx22tdTWXhO3QUcz2GDEWWcZRXAlQ/s1600/6-habits-that-put-plaque-on-your-teeth-1.jpg" height="266" title="6 Habits That Put Plaque on Your Teeth 1" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Long before toothbrushes and fluoride toothpaste existed, certain foods played a role in keeping plaque off of teeth.<br />
<br />
“Eating crunchy vegetables or fruits with the skin on can scrub off plaque,” Price tells WebMD. Carrots, apples, cucumbers, and many other raw fruits and vegetables are teeth-friendly, despite the sugar they contain.<br />
<br />
In addition, a diet high in fruits and vegetables and low in processed foods protects you from obesity, heart disease, and cancer.<br />
<br />
<b> Indulging Your Sweet Tooth</b><br />
<br />
Bacteria love simple carbohydrates like sugar. Eating candy or drinking sugary soft drinks lets sugar stick to our teeth, giving bacteria something to munch on. As the bacteria create a film of plaque, they digest sugar into acid, which damages teeth.<br />
<br />
“All sugary candy, and most junk food in general, contribute to plaque formation,” Price says. “High-sugar foods or drinks that are also soft or sticky are especially problematic. ... Sugary soft drinks might be about the worst thing you can put on your teeth."<br />
<br />
Avoiding these six bad habits can help you keep plaque in check (and keep your teeth).<br />
<br />
You may also want to talk about sealants with your dentist. The pits and fissures on molars can be difficult to keep clean in some people, even with good dental care. Dental sealants are a clear plastic coating that covers the tooth surface, barring bacteria and acid from entering. Sealants are safe and effective in blocking plaque and preventing tooth decay.<br />
<br />
“No one’s teeth can stay plaque-free 24 hours a day, it’s just not possible,” says Price. But good habits over a lifetime will help you beat back plaque and save your smile.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02706184040208820686noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-824276609524587852.post-29286428870831405202014-07-09T18:37:00.002-07:002014-07-09T18:37:21.742-07:00Toothbrushing with 10 Mistakes<h2 style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://eastmeetswestdental.blogspot.com/2014/07/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes.html" target="_blank">Toothbrushing</a> is such an ingrained habit, few people think twice about it. But as with any habit, you can get sloppy, and that can lead to cavities and gum disease.</span></h2>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXXCEq43CH8a1YXYgJDBnD_XyPQvEfGnJxj3-zauGnzM5H9aoReYjiYLyN-zfMTvn4HbM1chDdNjQWDt4mEX99m9XJk0xc4WLTjfQF_TWJXiavvGRCxHTIX65eK2fmewaRj1a6zPRBfw/s1600/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Toothbrushing with 10 Mistakes" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXXCEq43CH8a1YXYgJDBnD_XyPQvEfGnJxj3-zauGnzM5H9aoReYjiYLyN-zfMTvn4HbM1chDdNjQWDt4mEX99m9XJk0xc4WLTjfQF_TWJXiavvGRCxHTIX65eK2fmewaRj1a6zPRBfw/s1600/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes-1.jpg" height="266" title="Toothbrushing with 10 Mistakes" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Using the Right Toothbrush</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Consider the size of your mouth when picking a toothbrush, says Richard H. Price, DMD, the consumer advisor for the American Dental Association. "If you are straining to open wide enough to let the brush in, the brush is probably too big," he says.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
''The handle has to be comfortable," he says. It should feel as comfortable as holding a fork when you eat.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The more comfortable it is in your mouth and your hand, then the more likely you will use it and use it properly," he says.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Which is the better toothbrush: Electric or manual?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It's an individual preference," says Michael Sesemann, DDS, president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and an Omaha dentist. "A person who brushes well with a manual will do as well as a person who brushes well with an electric."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Price agrees. "It's not the toothbrush, it's the brusher."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Picking the Right Bristles</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some toothbrushes have angled bristles, others straight. So is one type better? Dentists say no.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
''It's more related to technique than the way the bristles come out," says Sesemann.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What is important when buying a toothbrush? Bristles that are too stiff can aggravate the gums. The ADA recommends a soft-bristled brush.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
''Bristles should be sturdy enough to remove plaque but not hard enough to damage [the teeth] when used properly," says Price. He doesn't recommend "natural" bristles such as those made from animal hair or boar bristle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Brushing Often Enough or Long Enough</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZD5XCzIKgby-OxB6YJXG-ePy-v8b58o6Lk_c29-yFdAwO8yxNaxMmcnpWAkbP0HcxRruLRn8bgc0hCbp_kHdTC_zylKBKHR5ljbvWTWMm_LbR_NUhxG7MkPq0FJnWm72XtEPIXxX8qA/s1600/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Toothbrushing with 10 Mistakes 2" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZD5XCzIKgby-OxB6YJXG-ePy-v8b58o6Lk_c29-yFdAwO8yxNaxMmcnpWAkbP0HcxRruLRn8bgc0hCbp_kHdTC_zylKBKHR5ljbvWTWMm_LbR_NUhxG7MkPq0FJnWm72XtEPIXxX8qA/s1600/toothbrushing-with-10-mistakes.jpg" height="275" title="Toothbrushing with 10 Mistakes 2" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Softly brushing your teeth at least twice a day is recommended. ''Three times a day is best," says Sesemann.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With too much time between brushings, he says, bacterial plaque will build up, boosting the risk of gum inflammation and other problems.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Brushing should last at least two minutes, says Sesemann. Three minutes is even better, says Price.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most people fall short of both time lines, says Sesemann. "It's an arbitrary number, but it's just so people take the time to clean all the surfaces." He often recommends people divide the mouth into quadrants and spend 30 seconds a quadrant. Some electric toothbrushes include built-in timers. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To make the two minutes go faster, Sesemann says he ''multitasks,'' fitting in a little TV viewing as he brushes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b> Brushing Too Often or Too Hard</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While brushing your teeth three times a day is ideal, more may not be, says Sesemann. "More than four toothbrushings a day would begin to seem compulsive."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Excessive brushing could expose the root of the tooth to irritation, and that could in turn irritate the gums. Brushing vigorously can also erode tooth enamel. The trick is to brush very gently for two to three minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Brushing Correctly</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
''Long horizontal strokes along the gumline can lead to abrasions," says Sesemann. "Aim your bristles at the gum line at a 45-degree angle and do short strokes or vibrations." Softly brush up and down your teeth, not across your teeth. The strokes should be vertical or circular, not horizontal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Be sure to brush outer and inner tooth surfaces, the chewing surfaces, and your tongue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b> Starting in the Same Place Each Time</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Many people start brushing the same part of their mouth over and over, dentists find.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Start in a different place so that you don't get lazy in the same area of your mouth," says Price. He reasons that by the time you get to the last quadrant of your mouth, you're bored with brushing.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Skipping Inner Tooth Surfaces</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Most people forget to brush the inner surfaces of teeth -- the surface that your tongue presses against.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The plaque you can't see is just as important to remove as the plaque you can see," says Price. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The most commonly skipped area, dentists say, is the inner surface of the lower front teeth.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b> Not Following Up With a Rinse</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bacteria can grow on an un-rinsed toothbrush. Then, the next time you brush your teeth, you may actually put old bacteria back in your mouth, says Laurence Rifkin, DDS, a dentist in Beverly Hills, Calif.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Rinsing the toothbrush after you brush will help remove any leftover toothpaste, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Letting the Toothbrush Dry</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"If you have a toothbrush that's perpetually moist, it will cultivate more bacteria," says Sesemann.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"If the bristles stay soggy, you can misshape them as you use the brush," Price says. "Or it might be a breeding ground for bacteria."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's a good idea to shake out the moisture, then recap it with a cap that allows air in, he says.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Not Changing the Toothbrush Often Enough</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The American Dental Association recommends getting a new brush every three or four months, or even sooner if the bristles look frayed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But rather than go by a strict timeline, Price says a visual inspection of the bristles is better. "Once the bristles lose their normal flexibility and start to break apart, change your toothbrush," he says.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Look more at the state of the bristles than the time period," he says.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Some brushes have colored indicators that alert you when they need replacing, says Price.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
